Let’s be honest maybe the BBL trend probably started a few years ago in Korea.

I remember seeing rapper Jessi showing off her BBL (and being pretty candid with it), but it just seems like more and more Koreans are picking up the trend, namely fitness models.

But there is also someone who shocked me since now that the trend has gone mainstream and who’s ass has been on display on the big screen.

Jeon Jong Seo’s Got a BBL?

Korean actress Jeon Jong Seo caught my eye for getting BBL (for legal reasons I will say “allegedly”).

Though don’t the before pictures speak a thousands words?

The screenshot on the left was taken from film Burning, where she infamously had a nude sex scene with actor Yoo Ah In.

Not to spoil anything, but for those who watched the film will remember during the second act of the film Jeon Jong Seo also dances in the sunset topless.

Eagle-eyed netizens have pointed out that her breasts are significantly different and bigger than in the beginning of the movie during her bed scene.

So you know, it’s kind of hard to keep denying that there were some body changes.

At the 2025 Busan International Film Festival, the actress’s figure was once again under scrutiny as she was in a form-fitting white dress, fueling a wildfire of comment threads and TikTok clips.

Some have long been speculating online that she might have had a BBL to achieve that hourglass look.

Of course, speculation doesn’t equal proof, but in the age of viral video clips and split-screen “before & after” posts, internet sleuths everywhere are dissecting silhouettes with the intensity of K-pop choreography breakdowns.

This isn’t the first time these hips have made appearances but anyone with eyes can see that her hips are definitely more pronounced. Could this be the work of hip filler?

TikTok Weighs In: “My Biggest Fear Has Been Unleashed”

TikToker Annie Nova recently addressed the rise of BBLs in Korea, and she did not hold back.

Here is what she said:

BBL’s are becoming popular in Korea. My biggest fear has been unleashed. I’m gonna be the one that says it. BBL’s do not look good especially when they’re done by doctors who’ve only recently started performing them, which is the case in Korea.

So in Korea, a lot of the girlies don’t have enough fat to do like a traditional BBL where you take your fat and put it somewhere else. So what they end up doing is using filler, and you know how filler can be. It can move around, it can look weird from certain angles.

The thing that really irks me about these Korean BBL’s is the fact that for some reason they’ll give you these like voluptuous child-bearing hips, mind you, on a very very skinny girl whose legs are as thin as my arm. They turn around and it’s just like nothing right. Flat.

I noticed the same thing with like hip pads, right? Like you can buy specifically here in Korea like jeans that will have built in hip pads. I feel like it looks by comparison like your hips already are kind of jarring. Like the hefty—you’ve got hefty hips—and then you turn around and you’ve got like this petite frame of just nothing there in the back.

I feel like this might just be like a sign of slowly Korea’s beauty standards changing, where like what’s happening in the back still isn’t anyone’s business. They just wanna look good from the front.

But my thing is—and again, maybe I’m just like so used to the Western beauty standard—I’m just like, your hips should match your thighs. They already don’t, especially when you get a BBL. I’ve never, I’ll be honest, I’ve never seen a good BBL. But like your hips should also match what’s happening in the back, you know what I mean?

And you know what? She’s lowkey right. Some of these BBLs or hips filled just look odd. If you scroll SNS long enough, from fitness trainers to female Korean rappers, you’ll see some truly unfortunate results.

Rapper Jessi: When the Rumor Isn’t a Rumor

If there’s one name that shuts down speculation instantly, it’s Jessi.

The rapper and variety show queen has openly confirmed getting body work, including BBL-style enhancement, in interviews and on television.

Love her or hate her, Jessi took control of the narrative, and in a culture where body work below the waist is rarely acknowledged, that transparency alone made her stand out.

HyunA: “Unrecognizable” & Internet Speculation

Another name pulled into the BBL rumor mill? HyunA.

Following her April 2025 comeback with “Mrs. Nail,” HyunA faced intense scrutiny, not for the music, but for her appearance. After a fancam from Inkigayo surfaced, netizens claimed she looked “unrecognizable.”

Some netizens went as far as accusing her of getting a BBL or wearing hip pads, while others questioned whether something had “happened” to her visuals overall.

Of course, defenders were quick to push back, saying weight gain, styling, and makeup can dramatically change how someone looks on stage.

Still, the fact that BBL accusations even entered the conversation shows just how normalized this speculation has become.

Chio Chicano: Underground Rapper, Online Obsession

Then there’s Chio Chicano Rice Spice: the underground it-girl you’ve probably heard about whether you wanted to or not.

She went viral on Instagram for her provocative photo shoots, often posing bent over, unapologetically showing off her body, and leaning hard into a hyper-sexual, Western-influenced aesthetic.

Naturally, that led to nonstop speculation.

Is it hip filler? A BBL? Genetics? Gym work? Photoshop?

No confirmations exist, but the rumors persist, especially as her image continues to dominate attention more than her actual music.

So the question remains: Do you think Chio Chicano had a BBL?

Final Thoughts

Let’s be clear: No other verified confirmations exist linking Korean celebrities to BBL procedures. Everything else lives in fan feeds, TikTok debates, Instagram comments, and gossip forums.

But one thing is obvious: the conversation has changed.

BBLs, hip fillers, and body enhancements are no longer taboo topics whispered behind closed doors. They’re front-and-center, dissected frame by frame, and increasingly normalized in Korean pop culture.

So… what do you think? Is Korea’s beauty standard evolving, or just borrowing curves without committing to the full picture?

Let’s be clear: No other verified confirmations exist linking Korean celebrities to BBL procedures. These stories live in fan feeds, TikTok threads, and comment boards. What do you think of the BBL trend in Korea?
